Jammu: Students from several colleges and universities, along with members of the public, attended day-long screenings of short films and international cinema at Wave Cinemas on Wednesday as part of the International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir (IFFJK) 2026.
Participants included students from Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government PG College for Women, Government MAM College, SPMR College of Commerce, the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), Government College for Women Parade, the University of Jammu, the Central University of Jammu and other educational institutions.
Students who attended the screenings described the festival as an opportunity to watch films from different countries and gain exposure to filmmaking, visual storytelling and cinema from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Faculty members accompanying students said the event provided a platform to learn about various aspects of filmmaking, videography and visual communication while facilitating interaction with films beyond conventional classroom settings.
According to organisers, the screenings formed part of the broader programme of IFFJK 2026, which aims to showcase cinema from across the world and promote film culture in the region.
Later in the evening, the Cultural Wing of the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Jammu, organised a cultural programme featuring folk music, instrumental performances and theme-based songs.
Singers Vanshika Dogra and Aditya Rao performed during the event, which was attended by officials of the Information Department and members of the public.
Deputy Director Information (PR) Moksha Dogra, Deputy Director (HQ) Ashu Kumari, Culture Officer Rajinder Kumar Digra, Field Publicity Officer Mohit Sharma and other departmental officials were present on the occasion.
