Kishtwar: Leader of Opposition (LoP) Sunil Sharma on Saturday visited Gurninal in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar district and met the family of a victim, expressing condolences and assuring them of support in their pursuit of justice.
According to a statement issued by the BJP, Sharma met the bereaved parents and conveyed his sympathies over the loss suffered by the family.
The LoP assured the family that their concerns would be pursued through appropriate channels and said the party stood with them during the difficult period, the statement said.
Sharma stated that the case had been handed over to the Crime Branch for investigation in line with the family’s demand. He also said he was in touch with the Lieutenant Governor regarding the matter and would continue to monitor developments in the case.
He urged the concerned authorities to ensure a fair, impartial and transparent investigation while addressing the family’s demand for justice.
According to the statement, Sharma assured the family that he would raise the issue at appropriate forums and continue to follow the case to ensure that their concerns were heard.
He also expressed hope that the investigation would be conducted expeditiously and in accordance with the law.
The visit comes amid demands by the victim’s family for a thorough investigation, with the case now under the Crime Branch for further probe.
