Jammu: A senior police official on Friday led a joint security review of the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine and the entire route from Katra to Bhawan in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district, officials said.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Shiv Kumar Sharma, who looks after the operation area of the twin districts of Udhampur and Reasi, and DIG CRPF Awdesh Pathak jointly reviewed the security arrangements to assess the existing measures and ensure their effective implementation along the pilgrimage route, they said.
During the review, the team conducted a thorough inspection of the Katra-Bhawan route, with particular focus on vulnerable locations and critical security points, they said.
The officers inspected various checking and frisking points established along the route and reviewed the deployment of security personnel and existing checking procedures.
The security arrangements at important locations were assessed with emphasis on access control, frisking, checking, surveillance and coordination among the security agencies, they said.
The senior officers also interacted with personnel deployed on the ground.
Necessary directions were issued to the officers concerned for strict implementation of prescribed security measures and maintenance of a high level of vigilance throughout the route, they said.
