POONCH: Security forces on Saturday busted a terrorist hideout in the Draba area of Surankote sector in Poonch district and recovered six improvised explosive devices (IEDs), ammunition and communication equipment, officials said.
According to officials, a joint operation was launched by the Army’s 16 Rashtriya Rifles, Special Operations Group (SOG) Bufliaz and 38 Battalion CRPF following specific intelligence inputs about militant activity in the area.
During the search operation, the forces recovered one gamla-type IED, one gool-type IED, four smaller IEDs, a Motorola wireless set and seven rounds of AK-47 ammunition.
Officials said the recovery averted a potential security threat in the region. Search operations were continuing in the area at the time of filing this report.
