BARAMULLA: A residential house was gutted in a fire incident in Jamadar Bijhama area of Boniyar in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Saturday, officials and locals said.
The house belonged to Bashir Ahmad Badan and Nazir Ahmad Badar, sons of Matwali Badar, residents of Bijhama.
Locals said the fire is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit. Soon after the blaze broke out, residents and a police team from Police Station Bijhama rushed to the spot and launched efforts to contain it.
The fire was later brought under control through joint efforts, preventing it from spreading to nearby structures.
Residents alleged that the poor condition of the approach road delayed the arrival of a fire tender, hampering firefighting operations. The incident caused extensive damage to the house.
No loss of life or injuries were reported in the incident.
