Srinagar: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg on Saturday hoisted the national flag at the Amar Niwas Complex here to mark the 80th Independence Day and called upon government officials to uphold integrity, efficiency and empathy in public service.
A CRPF contingent presented a ceremonial salute on the occasion.
Addressing officers and officials, Garg said Independence Day serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and the values enshrined in the Constitution. He noted that this year’s celebrations were further significant as the country is commemorating the 150th year of the National Song.
Emphasising ethical and effective governance, the Divisional Commissioner urged officials to maintain integrity, improve efficiency, leverage technology and adopt a compassionate approach while dealing with the public to strengthen trust in government institutions.
He stressed the need for a citizen-centric work culture and called for timely, responsive and efficient delivery of public services.
The function was attended by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo, Additional Commissioner Kashmir, officers and officials of the Divisional and District Administrations, and security personnel.
Earlier in the day, Garg also hoisted the national flag at his official residence in Sonwar as part of the Independence Day celebrations.
