J&K Resident Commission celebrates Independence Day in New Delhi

NEW DELHI, Aug 15: The Jammu and Kashmir Resident Commission on Saturday celebrated the 80th Independence Day with patriotic fervour at its premises on Prithviraj Road here, where Additional Resident Commissioner Anil Sharma hoisted the National Flag.

Addressing officers and staff of the Resident Commission and its subordinate offices, Sharma paid tributes to the freedom fighters and national heroes whose sacrifices contributed to India’s independence. He urged officials to uphold integrity, professionalism and dedication in public service.

Highlighting recent initiatives, Sharma said renovation and upgradation works had been carried out at J&K House, Chanakyapuri, and J&K House, Amritsar. He added that work on the proposed J&K House at Dwarka in New Delhi is expected to begin shortly, aimed at improving facilities for visitors and officials from the Union Territory.

He also appreciated the efforts of officers and employees for ensuring smooth functioning of the Resident Commission and delivery of services.

The celebrations featured cultural performances by staff members and children, including patriotic songs and presentations reflecting national unity and cultural diversity.

Certificates of appreciation and mementoes were presented to Resident Commission staff and Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police (JKAP) personnel for their dedicated services. Children who participated in the cultural programme were also felicitated.
