SRINAGAR: Police in Srinagar Friday claimed to have solved case of theft case and recovered stolen property worth approximately ₹17.5 lakhs.
Acting on a complaint by one Mohammad Amin Changa of Changa Mohalla, Mir Behri, regarding theft at his residence, police zeroed in on one Mohammad Hussain Latoo of Akhoon Mohalla, Mir Behri, Dal, Rainawari.
During investigation, Latoo’s involvement in the theft was established. He also disclosed that he committed the theft together with two associates, both of whom were found to be juveniles, police said.
On his disclosure, police also recovered gold ornaments valued at approximately ₹12 lakhs along with cash amounting to ₹2.2 lakhs.
Further investigation revealed that a portion of the stolen money had been used to purchase three iPhones and one motorcycle, collectively valued at approximately ₹3.5 lakhs, police said.
It said the total value of the recovered gold ornaments, cash, and other stolen articles, is estimated at approximately ₹17.5 lakhs. Further investigation into the case is underway, and additional recoveries are expected, police said.
