New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma on Tuesday met Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth and discussed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, the Centre’s anti-terror strategy and measures aimed at strengthening peace and normalcy in the Union Territory.

According to a BJP statement, Sharma appreciated the Centre’s approach towards national security and referred to Seth’s recent visit to Kashmir under the party’s “12 Saal Bemisaal” outreach programme, saying it had strengthened public confidence.

During the meeting, Sharma credited the Central government for pursuing a policy of “zero tolerance” against terrorism and claimed that Jammu and Kashmir was witnessing improved security, infrastructure development, increased tourism and greater public participation.

He also criticised mainstream political parties in Jammu and Kashmir, alleging that they had failed to fully support ongoing peace initiatives and had instead engaged in divisive politics.

Sharma reiterated that “Nation First” remained the BJP’s guiding principle and said party workers stood with the Armed Forces and security agencies in safeguarding the country’s unity and sovereignty. He also invited Seth to visit Jammu and Kashmir again to review developmental and security initiatives.

The statement said Seth appreciated the BJP organisation’s public outreach efforts and reaffirmed the Central government’s commitment to ensuring peace, national security and development in Jammu and Kashmir. He also presented books to Sharma during the meeting.
