Srinagar: The district administrations of Bandipora and Baramulla on Sunday issued weather advisories urging residents and tourists to remain vigilant amid forecasts of heavy rainfall and the possibility of flash floods, landslides and other weather-related hazards.
In Bandipora, the district administration warned that the ongoing spell of intense rainfall could trigger cloudbursts, flash floods, landslides, mudslides and shooting stones, posing risks to life and property.
Residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly in hilly, landslide-prone and low-lying areas, and to stay away from riverbanks, streams, nallahs and flood-prone locations. The administration also urged the public to follow official advisories, remain calm and refrain from circulating rumours or unverified information.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr. S.F. Hamid issued a weather advisory for the period from July 19 to 23 following the forecast issued by the Meteorological Department.
The advisory urged residents, particularly those living along rivers and streams in Tangmarg, Gulmarg, Uri, Boniyar, Shirpora Gavgrain, Chandoosa, Dandmoh, Hajibal, Shumluran, Kalantra, Rampur Rajpur, Shutloo, Galibal and Rafiabad, to stay away from flood-prone areas and avoid crossing flooded roads and water channels.
Tourists planning to visit Tangmarg, Gulmarg, Shirpora Gavgrain, Uri and Boniyar have been advised to verify road and weather conditions before travelling and avoid vulnerable locations.
The Baramulla administration said all concerned departments had been directed to remain on high alert, keep men and machinery ready and ensure a prompt response to any emergency. The public has been advised to follow official advisories and contact the District Emergency Operation Centre or Police Control Room in case of any emergency.
