During the visit, Dr. Kanth inspected lotus and makhana demonstration plots, water chestnut units, paddy research fields, high-tech greenhouses and other research and demonstration facilities. She reviewed the technologies being promoted at the centre and said they have the potential to support crop diversification, improve farm productivity and enhance livelihood opportunities for farmers.

Interacting with scientists, she stressed the need to strengthen the link between research and extension to ensure wider dissemination of scientific technologies among farmers. She also emphasised continued field demonstrations, capacity-building programmes and timely technical advisories to address emerging agricultural challenges.

The Director appreciated the work of the scientists and staff in promoting location-specific technologies and said the centre’s initiatives in lotus, makhana, water chestnut cultivation, protected cultivation and improved paddy production could contribute to sustainable agriculture and higher farm incomes.

The visit concluded with a review of the centre’s future action plan, during which Dr. Kanth assured continued institutional support for strengthening research and extension programmes.
