Delegations call on LG, raise SDGs, anti-drug campaign and development issues

Srinagar: Several individuals and political leaders called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday and discussed issues relating to sustainable development, drug abuse, infrastructure and regional development.

According to an official statement, Sehar Khan, a BJP leader and International Affairs and United Nations delegate from Jammu and Kashmir, met the Lieutenant Governor and presented a report on her recent participation in United Nations engagements and international dialogues on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The report outlined key discussions and policy recommendations emerging from the international forums.

In a separate meeting, athlete and youth activist Junaid Shafi from Shopian urged the Lieutenant Governor to strengthen measures to combat drug abuse in the district.

Former ministers G.M. Saroori and Abdul Majeed Wani also met the Lieutenant Governor and raised several developmental issues concerning Doda and Kishtwar districts.

They sought strengthening of healthcare infrastructure, establishment of a Government Women’s Degree College in Doda and a Government Medical College in Kishtwar, early construction of the Singhpora–Vailoo Tunnel and Sudhmahadev Tunnel, rehabilitation of families affected by cloudbursts and flash floods, sanctioning of the Naigarh Tunnel project and promotion of tourism in the Chenab region.

The two leaders also requested the constitution of a Chenab Hill Development Council and a special recruitment drive in the Jammu and Kashmir Police for local youth.
