SRINAGAR: The Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj will organise a regional workshop titled “Seva Se Samriddhi: Panchayat-led Service Delivery” in Srinagar on June 23 to strengthen grassroots governance and showcase innovative models of service delivery led by Panchayati Raj Institutions.
The workshop will be inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. J&K Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Javid Ahmad Dar, Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Vivek Bharadwaj, Joint Secretary Palka Sahni and Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, J&K, Mohammad Aijaz Asad will also be present on the occasion.
The event is being organised in collaboration with the Common Services Centre Special Purpose Vehicle (CSC-SPV), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
The workshop forms part of a sustained series of initiatives being undertaken by the Ministry to improve service delivery and strengthen ease of living in rural India through empowered, accountable and responsive Panchayati Raj Institutions and rural local bodies.
The programme will bring together Panchayat functionaries, elected representatives and Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs), along with government officials from seven states—Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.
Representatives from civil society organisations, academic and research institutions, and organisations working in rural technology and digital public infrastructure will also participate, bringing diverse perspectives on last-mile governance and service delivery.
As part of the workshop, high-performing Gram Panchayats and outstanding Common Service Centres (CSCs) from the participating states will be recognised and felicitated for their contributions towards improving grassroots governance and public service delivery.
The deliberations will focus on strengthening Panchayat-led service delivery through digital transformation, citizen participation, innovation and enhanced accessibility of public services at the grassroots level.
Panel discussions, technical sessions and state-level experience-sharing programmes will provide a structured platform for inter-state knowledge exchange and the dissemination of scalable governance models. The discussions are expected to highlight best practices and successful initiatives that can be replicated across different regions to improve governance outcomes.
The workshop is aimed at promoting stronger collaboration among Panchayati Raj Institutions, government agencies, technology platforms and community stakeholders to ensure efficient, transparent and citizen-centric delivery of services in rural areas.
Officials said the initiative reflects the Ministry’s continued commitment to strengthening local self-governance and empowering Panchayats as key institutions for rural development and socio-economic transformation.
