The main programme was led by IGP Kashmir, V.K. Birdi, at the District Police Office, Ganderbal. Senior officers, including IGP Traffic Mohammad Suleman Choudhary, IGP CID Tejinder Singh, DIG Central Kashmir Range Rajiv Pandey and SSP Ganderbal Sudhanshu Dhama, participated in the plantation drive and planted saplings within the premises. Addressing the occasion, the officers highlighted the importance of environmental protection and stressed the collective responsibility of preserving natural resources for future generations.

In Srinagar, plantation drives were organised across all police establishments, with the main event held at District Police Lines Srinagar under the supervision of SSP Srinagar, Dr G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy. Similar programmes were conducted at police stations and police posts across the district. A large number of saplings were planted within police premises and other identified locations.

District-wide plantation drives were also conducted in Budgam, Kulgam, Ganderbal, Shopian, Pulwama, Anantnag, Kupwara, Awantipora, Sopore and Handwara. Police officers and personnel planted ornamental and shade-bearing saplings at various establishments, reaffirming their commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development.

In Shopian, around 1,000 ornamental saplings were planted across police establishments, while more than 500 saplings were planted in Police District Sopore. Similar large-scale plantation activities were undertaken in other districts, with senior officers leading the programmes and encouraging greater public participation in environmental protection efforts.

Speaking on the occasion, police officers across districts emphasized that environmental conservation is a shared responsibility and called upon citizens to contribute towards creating a greener, cleaner and healthier future through sustained plantation and conservation initiatives.

The plantation drive was organised as part of J&K Police’s efforts to promote environmental awareness, strengthen afforestation measures and encourage community participation in safeguarding the region’s ecological balance.
