Srinagar: In a significant initiative to promote environmental awareness and sustainable living, the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army celebrated World Environment Day at Kupwara and Uri under the theme “Hamari Sarzameen, Hamara Mustaqbil” (Our Land, Our Future).
The events witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, local residents, and environmental enthusiasts, highlighting the growing commitment towards environmental conservation and responsible citizenship. The programmes aimed to foster ecological awareness and encourage collective action for a cleaner and greener future.
A variety of engaging activities were organised, including a Best Out of Waste Competition, Waste Collection Challenge, Waste Segregation Game, eco-quizzes, and an eco-friendly selfie point. Students from different schools and colleges actively participated, showcasing creativity, environmental awareness, and a strong sense of responsibility towards nature.
To mark the occasion, the Indian Army also conducted an extensive plantation drive, reinforcing its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development.
The initiative reflects the Chinar Corps’ continued efforts to promote environmental consciousness among the youth and local communities, while encouraging greater public participation in preserving the region’s rich ecological heritage.
