Jammu: The National Security Guard (NSG), bomb disposal squad (BDS) and Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday conducted a joint anti-terror mock drill at the Central University in Samba district to assess and strengthen response capabilities and inter-agency coordination during emergencies.

During the simulation, security forces responded to a staged terrorist attack scenario, carrying out rapid response operations, area domination, evacuation of civilians, rescue of injured persons, threat neutralisation and bomb detection and disposal procedures, officials said.

The mock exercise also witnessed the participation of the health department’s medical teams, Samba civil defence personnel and media documentation teams.

The NSG and police teams conducted tactical operations to secure the area, while the BDS carried out searches for suspicious objects and explosive devices.

Medical teams provided immediate first aid and evacuation support to mock casualties. Civil Defence personnel assisted with crowd management, evacuation procedures and support to emergency responders during the exercise.

Officials said the drill provided an opportunity for participating agencies to evaluate operational coordination, communication systems and response strategies under simulated real-time conditions.

Samba SSP said such exercises are vital for maintaining a high level of preparedness among security and emergency response agencies.
