At the outset, the Divisional Commissioner briefed the meeting on summer preparedness measures being undertaken to ensure uninterrupted public services during the peak season.

He also reviewed major developmental works underway in the region, including roads, highways, bridges and other infrastructure projects aimed at improving connectivity and public convenience.

The meeting was informed that sufficient stocks of essential commodities, including food grains and fuel, are available across Jammu division despite the prevailing crisis in West Asia. Officers said buffer stocks are being maintained and supplies are being replenished regularly to avoid disruptions during the summer and pilgrimage season.

Ramesh Kumar also briefed the meeting regarding arrangements for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, Machail Mata Yatra and Budha Amarnath Yatra.

He said preparations are being strengthened in view of the monsoon season, including road connectivity, sanitation, healthcare facilities, traffic regulation and emergency response systems for smooth movement of pilgrims.

The meeting also reviewed the power supply situation in the Jammu region. Managing Director JPDCL Gurpal Singh informed that measures are being taken for advance maintenance of transformers and strengthening of power distribution networks to minimise disruptions during summer.

Regarding Eid-ul-Adha preparations, the Divisional Commissioner informed that market checking teams would be constituted to prevent black marketing, hoarding and profiteering during the festival period.

The IGP Jammu and DIG Traffic J&K briefed the meeting regarding security and traffic management plans for Eid celebrations and major yatras in Jammu and Kashmir. They said foolproof security and traffic arrangements are being put in place for smooth public and pilgrim movement.

During the meeting, Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani directed the Power Development Department and Jal Shakti Department to ensure uninterrupted electricity and drinking water supply during summer.

He stressed advance maintenance of transformers, rational deployment of water tankers and establishment of round-the-clock grievance redressal systems for the public.

The advisor also directed the Health Department to keep hospitals and primary health centres fully equipped to handle heat-related illnesses and maintain adequate stocks of medicines, especially during the Amarnath Yatra and other pilgrimages.

He further instructed the Traffic Police and Transport Department to regulate vehicular movement on vulnerable stretches of the National Highway and ensure adequate public transport during the yatra period.

The FCS&CA Department was directed to maintain sufficient buffer stocks of essential commodities and intensify market checking drives to curb hoarding and profiteering during Eid and the pilgrimage season.

Stressing coordinated functioning among departments, Nasir Aslam said real-time monitoring, inter-departmental coordination and prompt response to grievances are essential to minimise inconvenience to the public during summer and upcoming religious events.
