Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee on Sunday organised a Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan programme at Gadigarh in R.S. Pura South constituency as part of its grassroots outreach campaign.

Addressing the gathering, JKPCC Working President Raman Bhalla highlighted four key issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir and the country.

He reiterated the party’s demand for restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, stating that elected governance and fiscal autonomy are essential to address public aspirations and ensure accountability in development and employment generation.

Bhalla also raised concerns over unemployment and agrarian distress in Jammu region, referring to youth migration, delays in recruitment and challenges faced by farmers and small traders due to rising input costs.

Linking national issues with the situation in J&K, he referred to debates around social welfare, price rise and democratic rights and urged party workers to take the Congress narrative to every household.

He also outlined the objectives of the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan, including strengthening block and booth-level committees, increasing participation of youth and women and ensuring the party remains actively connected with local issues such as water, electricity, roads, healthcare and education.

Former Minister Mulla Ram focused on issues concerning Scheduled Castes, backward classes and rural labourers in border and kandi areas of Jammu. He stressed implementation of welfare schemes, improved access to education and skill training and greater representation of marginalised communities within the party.

Former Minister Yogesh Sawhney spoke on civic and urban concerns in Greater Jammu, including traffic management, housing and youth engagement. He called for a stronger Congress presence on civic issues and increased use of digital platforms to connect with first-time voters.

Former Minister Abdul Majeed Wani discussed the impact of national economic policies on trade, tourism and horticulture sectors in J&K. He urged the party to highlight issues related to market access, cold storage and price stability for apple and other fruit growers while stressing communal harmony and inclusive politics.

Amrit Bali said the Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan is aimed at rebuilding the party from the grassroots level through direct engagement with workers and the public.

He pledged to expand the outreach campaign in every panchayat and ward of the constituency.

The programme was also addressed by senior leaders Gurbachan Kumari Rana, Subash Gupta, Jatinder Bhagat and Mangal Bral, who stressed unity, discipline and sustained public outreach to strengthen the Congress in Jammu and Kashmir.
