Srinagar: Police have arrested six drug peddlers in Anantnag, Shopian and Awantipora and seized a significant quantity of contraband substances in separate operations, a police spokesperson informed Tuesday.
He said at Ashajipora Janglatmandi, police arrested Arshid Ahmad Wani & Muzaffar Ahmad Mir, both residents of Batengoo, and Mohammad Rafiq Sofi of Zadoora Mirbazar after 2.242 kg cannabis powder was recovered from their possession.
At Danwathpora one Ali Mohammad Mochi of Buchoo Kokernag, was arrested and 8 kg of cannabis powder-like substance was recovered from him.
In Shopian, police arrested Gowhar Ahmad Wani of DK Pora at Manihal Crossing Imamsahib and recovered 4.340 kgs of cannabis-like substance from his possession.
At Katipora Chersoo in Awantipora, police arrested Bilal Ahmad Bhat of Batipora Chersoo after a cannabis powder-like substance weighing approximately 131 grams was recovered from his possession.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for further investigation, police said.
