KISHTWAR: The District Administration Kishtwar has introduced an RFID-based smart management system for the Shri Machail Mata Yatra 2026, making Radio Frequency Identification Device cards mandatory for all pilgrims.
The administration said the rule of “No RFID, No Darshan” will be strictly enforced during the yatra, which began on April 14 on the occasion of Vaisakhi.
The arrangements have been put in place under the supervision of Ramesh Kumar, with execution led by Pankaj Kumar Sharma.
Addressing the media, Pawan Kotwal said the earlier hybrid registration system had been discontinued and that the entire process would now be online.
Pilgrims will have to register through the official portal by uploading their photograph, mobile number and address, after which a unique travel ID will be generated.
RFID cards will be issued at designated centres after verification and will be compulsory for undertaking the yatra to the Shri Machail Mata Temple.
To strengthen safety and monitoring, the administration has set up a round-the-clock control room at the SDM Office in Gulabgarh.
The route, including sensitive points such as Chashoti, Hummori and the Darshani Gate, is being monitored through surveillance systems. Live feeds are accessible to senior officials, including the Deputy Commissioner and the Senior Superintendent of Police Kishtwar.
The administration has also introduced AI-enabled video surveillance and public address systems for crowd and traffic management.
Vehicle movement between Gulabgarh and other yatra points will be regulated, and drivers have been directed to follow safety norms, especially regarding passenger limits.
A dedicated communication network has also been established along the route to ensure uninterrupted connectivity, while real-time weather alerts are being issued to help pilgrims travel safely.
Pilgrims have been asked to wear their RFID cards at all times during the yatra and deposit them at designated exit points after completing the pilgrimage.
The administration said the new system would improve pilgrim safety, operational efficiency and real-time monitoring throughout the yatra.
