The job fair was aimed at providing both employment and self-employment opportunities to the youth of the region and served as a platform for direct interaction between job seekers and employers.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Chief Minister said such initiatives play an important role in bridging the gap between employers and unemployed youth. He urged young people to make full use of government self-employment schemes to establish their own ventures and emerge as job creators.

More than 35 companies participated in the fair and collectively offered 531 vacancies across diverse sectors, including manufacturing, retail, services, health, insurance, finance, banking, automobile, tourism, agriculture, fertilisers and textiles.

Officials said the event witnessed participation from unemployed youth from across the region, many of whom interacted directly with recruiters and explored available opportunities.

Under Mission YUVA, youth are also being facilitated with financial assistance in the form of loans, along with capacity building and handholding support to help them establish self-employment ventures.

On the occasion, the Deputy Chief Minister distributed loan cheques among beneficiaries through J&K Bank and also handed over sanction letters to selected candidates under the scheme.

Senior officers of the district administration, officials from the Employment Department, representatives of participating companies and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

The successful conduct of the event was seen as another step towards enhancing employment opportunities and promoting entrepreneurship among the youth of the region.
