Pulwama observes World TB Day, Hasnain Masoodi flags off 100-day TB Mukt campaign

Pulwama: World Tuberculosis Day was observed in Pulwama on Tuesday with a programme organised at Town Hall under the theme, “Yes! We Can End TB.”

The event was attended by MLA Pampore, Hasnain Masoodi, who also flagged off the TB Mukt Abhiyaan–100 Days Campaign.

During the programme, experts and medical professionals from the Health Department sensitised participants about tuberculosis, its symptoms, prevention, and the importance of timely diagnosis and complete treatment. Stress was laid on community awareness and collective efforts to eliminate the disease.

Addressing the gathering, the MLA appreciated the sustained efforts of the Health Department and the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme in tackling TB. He said the decline in mortality over the years reflects the dedicated work of healthcare workers and other stakeholders.

He underlined the importance of early detection and urged frontline workers to remain vigilant and proactive to ensure timely identification and treatment of cases.

On the occasion, Masoodi flagged off the TB Mukt Abhiyaan–100 Days Campaign, which aims to accelerate case detection, improve treatment adherence and strengthen last-mile delivery of TB services.

The programme also featured the felicitation of TB Mukt Panchayats and field functionaries for their role in spreading awareness and contributing to TB control efforts in the district.

Among those present were the Chief Medical Officer Pulwama, Medical Superintendent District Hospital Pulwama, District Health Officer Pulwama, District Tuberculosis Officer Pulwama, Block Medical Officers, besides officials from the Rural Development Department and health staff associated with the National TB Elimination Programme.
