Srinagar: Apni Party’s District Presidents across the Valley Saturday submitted memorandums — seeking restoration of J&K’s statehood; release of detainees who have been kept behind bars in the name of ‘precautionary measure’; swift recruitments; simple verification process for the job aspirants; and so on — to their respective District Magistrates (DMs) in all 10 districts of the Valley.

The memorandum contained demands including the key demand for the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. The rest of the demands include the release of those prisoners who have been kept in jail in the name of ‘precautionary measure’, swift recruitments, a simple verification process for the job aspirants or those who have just got appointed in various departments and are now waiting for the CID clarifications.

“The move is a supplementary activity of the party’s recent initiative in which the party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari led a top party delegation to Raj Bhavan in Srinagar and handed over a memorandum, demanding restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha,” the statement reads.

“As the party has already started a movement for J&K’s statehood, all the district level leaders of the party today emphasized the demand for statehood vigorously by submitting memorandums to the government through District Magistrates (DMs) of every district across the Valley,” it reads.

“The purpose of this exercise is to emphasize the fact that the people of Jammu and Kashmir desperately want their identity, in terms of statehood to J&K, returned. Since Apni Party has been in touch with the people through its ongoing public outreach program across J&K for the past two years, it can confirm the fact that the J & K people desire the immediate restoration of statehood for Jammu and Kashmir,” it added.
