Baramulla: A 20-year-old girl lost her foot to a landmine blast along Line of Control in Hathlanga village in Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday afternoon, officials said.

The girl identified as Masooma Bano, daughter of Juma Chachi, suffered left foot injury in the landmine blast when she was reportedly grazing sheep close to her home.

Officials said that following the blast the girl was brought to SDH Uri with severe leg injury where her left foot had to be amputated.

“After assessing her condition, she was referred to GMC Baramulla for sepecialised treatment,” the officials said.

Confirming the incident, Station House Officer (SHO) of Police Station Uri said that the girl was hit by an underground mine outside the village pasture.
