Advisor Khan convenes public outreach camp at Udhampur

Udhampur: In order to provide governance at the doorsteps of people ensuring grievances redressal mechanism at every level, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan, conducted an extensive tour of Udhampur district and held public hearings during a public outreach camp.

Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Indu Kanwal Chib, and other senior officers of different departments were present during the camp.

Several delegations and individuals met the Advisor and projected their demands and issues seeking an early redressal to the same.

A delegation of Chamber of Commerce & Industries Udhampur apprised the Advisor regarding slow pace of ongoing development works on sports stadium, dilapidated condition of sports stadium, extension of whole sale Sabzi mandi, shortage of sports grounds in the district.

A delegation from Beopar Mandal Udhampur met the Advisor and raised their demands and problems which included development of a sports stadium of international level, identification of tourist spots in the district, establishment of tourist huts, dilapidated conditions of roads, establishment of parking zone and related issues.

Also, Tribal Community members met the Advisor and raised various issues and demands like functioning of mobile schools, transfer of wardens and appointment of Urdu teacher at Government Middle School Jakhani.

A delegation from Bar Association Udhampur demanded establishment of advocates chamber and Canteen, uploading and digitalization of revenue records.

Representatives of Muslim Welfare Society projected their demands like fencing of graveyards, construction of community toilet, lack of drinking water at Battal Ballian, construction of lane at Ladhyala etc.

Meanwhile, several individuals met the Advisor and projected several demands like installation of transform at village Kuperla of panchayat Ritti, establishment of Dispensary at Moungri, displaying of rate list in all shops, construction of lanes and drains at railway station besides other local issues regarding better civic amenities.

Later, Advisor Khan convened another public interaction session with PRIs which was attended by DDC Chairperson, Udhampur, Lal Chand, DDC Vice Chairperson, Juhi Manhas Pathania, BDCs and DDCs.

The participants projected several demands and issues which included establishment of Air Port at Udhampur, promotion of tourism in the district, extension of Udhampur Bus stand, shortage of technical  staff in different departments, vehicle facilities to BDCs and DDCs, creation of new food centres, dilapidated condition of roads, establishment of cold stores in every block, inclusion of left out beneficiaries under PMAY, improvement of WSS at Patnitop, pending survey of SMAS, inclusion of Left out beneficiaries under BPL ration cards, establishment of sports stadium at block level, establishment of K V School at Narsoo, up gradation of High school to Higher Secondary School at Jib, establishment of ration depot in every Panchayat at Moungri Block, construction of bridge over Anji Nallah, pending labour payments under Saubhagya scheme, up gradation of PHC etc.

While responding to issues of BDCs, DDCs and PRIs, Advisor assured that all their demands and grievances will be looked into for an early redressal.

Later, Advisor convened a meeting with officers of different departments.

Deputy Commissioner gave a detailed Power Point presentation of various ongoing development works being executed by different departments in the district.

Advisor also reviewed progress on Devika project and directed executing agency to expedite the ongoing works for timely completion.

Advisor Khan also reviewed Covid- 19 status in the district and was given a brief account of measures being implemented by the department towards containment of the virus by CMO, Dr. K C Dogra.

During the camp, the Labour Department Udhampur released an amount of around Rs 24 lakh as education assistance to wards of construction workers in presence of Advisor.
