Number of recoveries gives hope amidst Covid gloom

Srinagar: While the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir continues to witness surge in Covid-19 positive cases like rest of the country, there is some light at the end of the tunnel on recovery front.

The official data available about the total positive cases recorded in the UT during first seven days of the month of May suggested that while 30871 positive cases were reported during the period, 14594 infected people have recovered and were discharged from different hospitals.

On May 1st, 3832 positive cases were reported while as 1801 patients were reported recovered. On 2nd May there were  3571 positive cases and 1453 recoveries; on May 3rd, 3733 positive cases and 1536 recoveries; May 4th, 4650 cases and 1878 recoveries; May 5th, 4716 positive and 2338 recoveries; May 06, 4926 positive and 2836 recoveries and; on May 07, 5443 were tested positive whileas 2752 recovered and were discharged from the hospitals.

The recoveries include those who were hospitalized and were discharged after recovering and testing negative. The recovery rate of those admitted in different hospitals comes to 47.27%.

However, there are thousands of others who test positive and need no hospitalization and remain quarantined at their respective homes. The number of such patients turning negative is much higher, official sources disclosed.

Though the recovery figures come as a hope amid the Covid-19 gloom, the experts insist that people need not to be complacent and should religiously follow the Covid related SOPs.

They further say that the dangerous surge in the spread of pandemic has left the government with no option but to declare Covid related restrictions, adding, people have to curtail their movement and follow other precautions to contain the spread of Covid-19.
