Bukhari criticizes PDP chief of destroying J&K’s peace for selfish gains

Srinagar: Apni Party chief Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Wednesday targeted his former boss and Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti while accusing her of destroying the peace and prosperity of J&K for selfish gains.

As per news agency KNO, Bukhari said that he couldn’t sleep for the whole night after reading the statement of Mehbooba Mufti wherein she had said that PDP was not for restoration of statehood (only) but Article 370 as well.

“I want to ask her how one can bring back Article 370 without restoration of statehood. She wants this place to remain backward. By opposing statehood what does she want to prove?” he said.

Bukhari, who was a cabinet minister during PDP-BJP regime headed by Mehbooba Mufti as chief minister, said that she was opposing the statehood at the behest of the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD).

“What drama are they playing? They call others B-team, so are they doing it for being A-team!” he said addressing the “prominent” political activists from Bijbehara (Anantnag) and Keran (Kupwara) who, according to a party press release, joined Apni Party at its Srinagar office.

Making the attack more personal, Bukhari said that “I wonder whether you (Mehbooba) deserved the respect we gave you at one point of time. And irony is that she opposed statehood at a place which is just 50 kms away from the other side of Kashmir where two families are divided just because of leaders like her.

“They have always played with the emotions of the people of J&K and now I feel that with such propaganda they are adamant over the devastation of our people,” Bukhari remarked.

He said that the same leaders who are lamenting and shedding crocodile tears today are responsible for maliciously destroying the peace and prosperity of J&K for their selfish gains.

He said “our party will leave no stone unturned until statehood is restored. This is my commitment on behalf of my party that we will never compromise on this issue even though some are now giving a silent nod to it.”

On the occasion, party press release said that prominent political activists from Bijbehara (Anantnag) and Keran (Kupwara) joined the Apni Party.
