Baramulla: Two double-story residential houses were gutted in a fire incident in Barnate Boniyar on Thursday.

According to the locals, the gutted residential houses belong to Abdul Rehman Kumar and Karim Din Kumar, both residents of Barnate Boniyar.

“There were six families residing in the two joint residential houses. They have suffered massive damage as all their goods and belongings besides property worth lakhs was reduced to rubble in the fire incident,” they added.

Infuriated by the non-availability of a fire station in the area, locals were up in arms against the civil administration as they alleged that nobody from the administration except police reached the spot to take stock of the situation.

They said that there is no fire station or fire tender available at the local level.

Station House Officer, Boniyar Ashiq Hussain, told Kashmir Images that cause of fire is believed to be short circuit.
