COVID-19: Sec 144 imposed in various districts of Kashmir region

Srinagar, MARCH 19: In wake of Coronavirus pandemic, District Magistrates today ordered imposition of restriction on public movement under section 144 in various districts of Kashmir regions.

In this regard, restrictions have been imposed on assembly, gathering or procession involving five or more than five persons in the entire district including villages and towns.

According to the order issued by the DM Bandipora, no public transport shall ply in the district till March 31. However, plying of Sumos and Autos shall be reviewed after three days.

In addition to this, “all restaurants, open food courts, roadside eateries, gyms, beauty parlors, snooker clubs, parks shall remain closed,’ order reads.

Meanwhile, Joint Medical Screening cum security check posts have also been established at Sara-Dangerpora, Sumbal bridge, Ajas and Watlab top by Police, Health and Revenue Departments.

However these restrictions shall not apply to the government vehicles, ambulances and government staff involved in efforts against COVID-19 and other staff of other emergency services.

“Any violation of the orders shall invite action under Indian Penal Code,” the order further reads.

Meanwhile, District Magistrate Kupwara ordered imposition of restrictions on public movement under section 144 in the district.

Restrictions have been imposed on public movement, holding assemblies, gathering or procession involving five or more than five persons in the entire district including villages and towns.

According to the order issued by DM Kupwara, no public transport shall ply in the district till March 31.  However these restrictions shall not apply to the government vehicles, ambulances and government staff involved in efforts against COVID-19 and other staff of other emergency services.

Any violation of the orders shall invite action under Indian Penal Code, the order reads.

In view of Coronavirus pandemic, District Magistrate Pulwama ordered imposition of restriction on public Movement under section 144 in the district, with immediate effect.

Restrictions have been imposed on public movement, assembly, gathering or procession involving five or more persons in the entire district including villages and towns.

According to the order issued by the District Magistrate Pulwama, no public transport shall ply in the district till March 31 and the Hotels, Restaurants, Gyms, Parks and other public places will remain closed.

However these restrictions shall not apply to the Government vehicles, ambulances and government staff involved in efforts against COVID-19 and other staff of the emergency services.

Any violation by any person shall invoke penal action under section 188 of IPC.

Moreover, special Nakas have been established at all prominent places as a measure to restrict the movement of people.

The District Magistrate Kulgam, Showkat Aijaz Bhat, aslo ordered imposition of restriction on public movement under section 144 CrPC in the District.

Restrictions have been imposed on assembly, gathering or procession involving five or more persons within the territorial limits of the entire District.

According to the order issued by District Magistrate, no public transport shall ply in the District till March 31 which will be reviewed after feedback from the concerned agencies.

These restrictions shall not apply to the Government vehicles, Ambulances and Government staff involved in efforts against COVID-19 and other staff of emergency and essential services.

In case of any exigency, the Executive Magistrates concerned shall grant permissions.

Ban on entry of all foreign tourists have also been imposed in the district with immediate effect till March 31.

Any violation of this order by any person shall invite action under Indian Penal Code (IPC).
