Ganderbal, Sep 20: A man was arrested Thursday for allegedly killing a 12-year-old boy in Ganderbal district of central Kashmir, police said.

The accused was upset after the father of the victim turned down his marriage proposal for his daughter, they claimed.

Abrar Majeed Reshu was arrested on the charge of killing Faisal Hussain Misger on September 18 in Alasteng area of the district, police said.

Addressing a press conference here, SSP Ganderbal said, few days ago the dead body of Faisal was found in Busarbugh area following which a case was registered and a special investigation team (SIT) formed to probe the murder.

After conducting postmortem of the body, subsequent investigations pointed to the complicity of 21-years-old Abrar Majid Reshu in the murder, SSP said.

SSP said “the accused is infamous in the area as he is known to be a drug-addict. He used to stalk deceased boy’s sister who got married some days ago. The girl’s family had actually rejected the marriage proposal of accused and in an act of vengeance, he killed the boy.”

Sharing details of the murder, SSP said, “On the day when Faisal was murdered, he was seen with the accused near an orchard, following which “Abrar strangulated the minor to death and then dragged his body as a result of which the deceased sustained injuries in the face.

“Later the accused talked to one of his friends and told him that he has murdered Faisal, “SSP said, adding that this was established by his call details.

“Police had sent exhibits recovered from the body and scene of crime to Central forensic laboratory for scientific analysis. Medical report and circumstantial evidence established throttling,” he added.
