Labartal, Kakinmaran enter final

Budgam: In the penultimate match of the Ramazan tournament, Labartal defeated Sheikhpora by 63 runs here at Kakinmaran on Thursday.

Labartal set the daunting 163-9 target in allotted 17 overs after being invited to bat first. In reply, Sheikhpora were bundled out for 99 runs.

For Labartal, Showkat made sensational 14-ball 41 runs, while Gulzar and Asif scored 28 and 18 runs respectively. Niyaz and Mehraj claimed three wickets each for Sheikhpora.

The impressive bowling of Imtiyaz, Aijaz and Asif easily defended their total and destroyed the battling of Sheikpora. The trio picked three wickets each. Muneer was the leading run scorer for Sheikhpora with 22 runs, while Suhail made 23.

Earlier, in the first semi-final of the tournament, hosts Kakinmaran thrashed Mirgund by 74 runs.

Bating first, Asif’s 38-ball 68 runs and Nisar’s 32-ball 56 runs help Kakinmaran to post a total of 196-6 in 17 overs. Mushtaq also hit a cameo of 24 runs of just six deliveries. While chasing the target, Mirgund were all out for 122 in 14.4 overs.

For Mirgund, Aaqib and Aamir scored 32 and 25 runs. For hosts, Nisar took three wickets. Sajad and Mukhtar also claimed two wickets each
