Satish Sharma inaugurates ₹20 lakh synthetic volleyball court at Khour School

KHOUR: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, IT, Transport, Youth Services and Sports, Satish Sharma on Thursday inaugurated a synthetic volleyball court at Government Higher Secondary School Datyal in Khour area.

Developed by the Department of Youth Services and Sports at a cost of ₹20 lakh, the facility is expected to provide improved sports infrastructure to students and local youth in the area.

Speaking on the occasion, Sharma said the government is committed to promoting sports at the grassroots level and ensuring access to modern facilities in rural and far-flung areas.

He said sports play an important role in the overall development of youth by promoting discipline, teamwork and healthy competition.

“Development of sports infrastructure in rural areas remains a key priority. Facilities like these will help in identifying and nurturing local talent and provide opportunities to compete at the district, UT and national levels,” the minister said.

Sharma also interacted with students, sportspersons and local residents and encouraged them to make optimum use of the new facility.

He directed the concerned officials to ensure proper maintenance of the court and organise regular coaching and sporting activities so that the infrastructure is fully utilised.

Local representatives, officers of the Youth Services and Sports Department, school staff and a large number of students and sports enthusiasts were present on the occasion.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the local community, reflecting growing interest in sports in the area.
