PDD Sub Division Tangmarg crosses all limits

Baramulla:  In a bizarre incident PDD Sub Division Tangmarg issued a  bill of Rs 56000 to a Primary School in North Kashmir’s Tangmarg zone for shifting of sub station (transformer) whereas the application for shifting of sub station was forwarded by villagers.

A group of people from Towkalpora village said that they had requested PDD  department  for shifting of transformer from the school premises as it was dangerous for dozens of school children but ironically PDD has sent a bill of Rs. 56 K to Headmaster Primary School Towkalpora as labour charge for its shifting and reinstallation.

The letter issued from the Office of the Assistant Engineer Electric Special Sub Division Tangmarg vide No. SSDT/2096 dated 26-02-2018 reads … “The office has received a representation from masjid committee Tawakalpora  Tangmarg for shifting the transformer from Govt. Primary school Tawakalpora’s premises. In this connection there is no objection for shifting of transformer  from any side … only the labour component for dismantling and re-erecting of the material to the tune 0.56 lacs is required for shifting of bed for which estimate cost is also enclosed…it is requested that the estimated amount be deposited in this office so that work could be taken up in hand.” The letter is in possession of Kashmir Images.

When asked, Assistant Executive Engineer PDD Sub Division Tangmarg Mehraj u Din initially said that an HT line is passing through the school and that is to be shifted not the transformer. However, when he was told the Department’s letter is lying with Kashmir Images, he came up with another excuse – “School authorities had asked for estimation that’s why we may have sent them the estimation.” However the school authorities denied having asked for any estimation.
