The decision in this regard was conveyed today by Mumbai Press Club President Gurbir Singh following a formal request of in this regard by the Kashmir Press Club President Shuja ul Haq.

“It is indeed significant that the Kashmir Press Club is taking initiative to provide many facilities like a gym for its members. More so, when journalists are facing many professional challenges in the valley; and a lack of understanding on the national level too”, Gurbir Singh said.

As the Press Club of India has already granted affiliation to the Kashmir Press Club, Gurbir said that the Delhi Press Club and Mumbai Press Club are already part of a Federation of Press Clubs of India, formed around 3 years ago.

“And I’m sure all constituents would welcome your joining the federation” he said, adding that  the Mumbai Press Club already has a reciprocal policy in place, which allows other press club members to take casual membership of upto 15 days and use the club when visiting Mumbai.

“We will include the Kashmir press club for this reciprocal arrangement”, he said, adding that Mumbai Press Club would also welcome interactions with KPC members for better understanding the happenings in Kashmir.

While welcoming the reciprocal policy of the Mumbai Press Club and the tie up, the KPC would also like to thank P Vaidyanathan Iyer Executive Editor (National Affairs) The Indian Express, for his interest and facilitatory role.

Vaidaya during his recent visit to Valley had also visited the Kashmir Press Club for an interaction with the elected members.
