DG Social Welfare reviews progress, implementation of schemes at Bla

BARAMULLA, JULY 20: Director General Social Welfare Department Kashmir Rukhsana Gani today convened a meeting of the officers of social welfare department and other concerned at Dak Bungalow Baramulla to review the progress besides implementation of various government sponsored schemes.

During the review, threadbare discussion was held on the functioning of social welfare offices, orphanages, women shelters besides implementation of government schemes in the district. The progress achieved under Aadhar seeding was also reviewed during the meeting.

Speaking on the occasion, DG Social Welfare exhorted upon the concerned officers to gear up their functionaries and ensure Aadhar seeding of all the beneficiaries up to July 31, 2019. She sought reports and feedback from the concerned so that social welfare centres can be strengthened more. The DG directed the concerned to improve their performance and also check the functioning of private orphanages, women shelters and NGO’s in the district, saying that poor performance of any institution will not be tolerated.

District Social Welfare officer Baramulla Showket Ahmad Showket on the occasion briefed that 36289 beneficiaries are presently being benefited from various components under ISSS, while as 13613 beneficiaries provided financial assistance under the components of NSAP in the district. As many as 1947 students were provided pre-matric scholarship of Rs 16.20 lakh, the meeting was told.

The participants during the meeting, apprised the DG about various problems with regard to the accommodation, infrastructure, furniture and furnishing and other equipment. The DG assured them that their genuine demands would be looked into on priority.

Among others, District Social Welfare Officer Baramulla, besides Tehsil Social Welfare Officers, craft teachers, social workers and other concerned were present in the meeting.
