Markets in Ganderbal and Kangan towns also remained closed for the second day. The students of Degree College Ganderbal assembled outside the college gate and staged a protest.

Throughout the day, protestors clashed with government forces in the Soura area, and latter responded by firing tear-gas to disperse them.

Residents from the area said clashes erupted between protestors and forces at Sabzi Mandi Soura, while angry protestors also clashed with SSB men at Ahmednagar.

Fazili was killed along with two associates in a gunfight with the government forces in Hakoora area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district in the wee hours yesterday.
