The protesting drivers told Kashmir Images that since the time Shopian-Bijbehara road was macadamized, it has never been repaired. “The concerned department continues to remain indifferent towards our woes as instead of repairing vital Shopian-Bijbehara road, it is busy in constructing peripheral link roads,” they added.

The drivers further said that they will continue to block the road till any decision is taken with regard to repairmen of the road.

Meanwhile, drivers at Sumo stand Zainapora, Chitragam and Shopian also staged protest over the same issue.

When contacted Deputy Commissioner Shopian said: “The concerned department is taking steps to repair the Shopian-Bijbehara road and its widening will be also done.”
