Maqbool Day observed in different parts of world: JKLF

Srinagar: Various programs were held throughout the world to commemorate ‘35th martyrdom anniversary’ of Muhammad Maqbool Butt, a JKLF spokesman said in a statement issued here today.

Protest programs were held in Kashmir and a shutdown was observed throughout the valley and also despite stringent curfew and restrictions, on JRL call a grand rally was held at Lal Chowk Srinagar, said the spokesman.

Protest program was also held at his birth place Trehgam Kupwara which was attended by various JKLF leaders. A candle light march was also held in which thousands including women participated and demanded return of mortal remains of their beloved leader, the spokesman said.

The spokesman said that commemorative programmes were held at national Press club in Islamabad Pakistan besides; Helsinki Finland and Barcelona Spain, said the spokesman, adding, JKLF leaders and activists belonging to Europe zone also held demonstrations outside Indian Embassy in Brussels Belgium.

JKLF UK organized a protest rally outside Indian embassy in which protesters demanded the return of mortal remains of the leader while as in Saudi Arabiya a seminar, said the spokesman, adding seminar was also held in Dubai.

Programmes were also organized in all parts of Azad Kashmir, the spokesman said.

Meanwhile, Chairman, Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik, who is languishing in police custody along with other JKLF leaders from last many days, in a statement issued today said that every aspect of Maqbool Butt’s life stands as a mile stone for ‘us and this nation can never forget his struggle and sacrifices.’

“The martyrdom of Maqbool Butt on gallows gave birth to thousands of young Maqbools who are till today striving for the righteous cause, sacrificing their lives in nooks and corners of Jammu Kashmir and writing down new chapters of passion, valor and greatness,” said Malik in the statement.
