Chairman LC inaugurates Press Club Kargil

KARGIL, NOVEMBER 15: Chairman Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali today urged upon the journalistic fraternity to maintain the principles of objectivity, impartiality and fairness so that the role of media as the fourth pillar of society in a democratic set up is fulfilled in its true essence.

The Chairman stated this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Press Club of Ladakh Kargil at the Conference Hall of Tourist Facilitation Center here today.

The Chairman highlighted the role of media in the dissemination of news and views to the general public and urged upon the members of the Press Club of Ladakh Kargil to work with dedication and professionalism so as to come up to the expectations of the people.

Acting Chairman and CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Aga Syed Mujtaba Mosavi was also present as the Guest of Honour on the occasion. The CEC in his address while congratulating the members for having opened a Press Club in the district extended his best wishes for their future endeavours.

Earlier the members of the Press Club while highlighting the role of private media in Kargil and the issues and challenges confronting them. The members through memorandum projected a number of demands that included the issuance of accreditation cards to the member journalists, provision of office complex, land for setting up of Press Club office, invitation of private media persons during VIP visits and national level programmes and other related issues.

The Chairman while giving a patient hearing of all the demands and concerns assured the members that these would be taken up at appropriate platforms so that all genuine concerns are resolved in a timely manner.

Assistant Director Information Kargil Muhammad Ali Tak, DY SP HQR Kargil Syed Mujahidul Haq, President Press Club of Ladakh Kargil Hussain Ibn Khaloo, Chief Advisor Sajjad Hussain and other members of the club were present on the occasion.
