Srinagar, Sep 28: Former Finance Minister and senior PDP leader Syed Altaf Bukhari on Friday welcomed the suggestion of J&K Civil Society Coordination Committee for a tie up between NC and PDP for formation of a new government in Jammu and Kashmir to defend Article 35-A and to fight communal forces.

“The suggestion of J&K Civil Society Coordination Committee for alliance of National Conference and PDP for formation of a new government for fighting strongly the challenges to Article 35-A and Article 370 is welcome,” a local news agency quoted Bukhari as saying.

However, he made it clear that tie up between NC and PDP for formation of a new government to fight rise of communal forces and for defending Article 35-A and Article 370 are his personnel views and not of the party.

He also condemned the killing of a Noorbagh youth on Thursday and said he was “killed in cold blooded”.

Bukhari also regretted Central government’s “discouraging response” to the offer of dialogue from Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, saying that it is very unfortunate that the offer of dialogue from Pakistan was not responded well by the Central government.

As already reported J&K Civil Society Coordination Committee leaders have urged the NC and PDP to form a new government to strongly fight legal challenges to the Article 35-A and Article 370 in the Supreme Court of India.

Meanwhile, senior National Conference leader and MLA Kangan Mian Altaf said National Conference was open to joint struggle with PDP on Article 35-A and against the rise of communal forces but the decision to ally with it for formation of a government wrests with Omar Abdullah only.

A local news agency quoted Mian Altaf as saying that the suggestion of NC and PDP joining hands for a joint fight for Article 35-A and against rise of communal forces in Jammu and Kashmir made by a civil society grouping and welcomed by senior PDP leader and former Finance minister Altaf Bukhari “is a welcome move but the decision to form a government in alliance with PDP lies with Omar Abdullah only.”

“Forming a government and stitching an alliance with PDP is not an easy job but very difficult keeping in view the present political scenario in the state. So only Omar Abdullah can talk about forming a government in alliance with PDP whether for Article 35-A or for fighting communal forces in the state,” Mian Altaf said.
