Pulwama, Sep 18:  A pellet victim from Murran village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district has been booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) and shifted to Kotbalwal jail in Jammu.

Suhail Ahmad Tramboo, 26, son of Mohammad Ahsan Tramboo was detained 20 days ago from Murran village during a nocturnal raid.

The family members of the detained youth told Kashmir Images that he was in police custody at Pulwama for 3 weeks before he was shifted to Kotbalwal Tuesday early morning.

Mohammad Ahsan Tramboo, father of the booked youth, said that 20 days ago forces raided his house at around 3am to arrest Suhail.

“Suhail after learning that army is in their yard managed to flee after jumping from a window and took shelter in a neighbor’s house,” said Ahsan adding that his phone and identity card were confiscated by the forces.

He further said that on same day at around 6:00 am in the morning, Suhail ringed his mobile phone after which forces raided the neighbour’s house and detained him.

Subsequently, the family members started pleading before police authorities to release their son on grounds of his poor health conditions.

“The police authorities had assured us that they will release our son after some days but we were taken aback when Suhail called us from an unknown number on Tuesday early morning and informed us that I have been booked under PSA and will be shifted to Kothbalwal Jail,” Ahsan told Kashmir Images.

The elder sister of booked Suhail told Kashmir Images that he was hit with pellets during a protest at neighboring village in March, 2017. “His right eye got fully damaged and doctors at SMHS removed five pellets from his right eye which affected his eyesight.”

“He cannot see with one of his eye; besides, he has also developed a stone measuring 14 mm in diameter in his gall bladder,” she said adding that doctors have advised him to undergo a surgery for removing his gall bladder.

“He often complains of severe pain in abdomen and his condition may deteriorate further in a distant jail where he has no close relative to look after him,” the mother of the booked youth said.

The family members said they were told by police that their son was picked on charges of stone pelting and that police has a video evidence to prove that he is guilty.

Suhail’s aged father said that his son might have taken part in stone pelting in the past after Burhan Wani’s killing in 2016 unrest but he would hardly leave his home after his eye got injured with pellets.

He request higher authorities to look into the case on humanitarian grounds and quash the PSA slapped on his son.

When contacted Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, he said that I don’t know anything about the PSA and dropped the call. However, a senior police official in Pulwama district confirmed that Suhail has been lodged under Public Safety Act (PSA) at Kothbalwal Jail on the charges of stone pelting.
