Srinagar: President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, Farooq Abdullah, on Sunday urged the administration to ensure comprehensive and seamless arrangements for the forthcoming holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram, with particular focus on the observance of Youm-e-Ashura.

In a statement, Abdullah highlighted the religious and emotional significance of Muharram and called upon the concerned departments to ensure uninterrupted essential services during the period.

He stressed that devotees and mourners should be facilitated in every possible manner so that they can observe the sacred month and participate in religious gatherings with dignity, peace and devotion.

The National Conference president expressed hope that the administration would make all necessary arrangements well in advance and demonstrate sensitivity towards the religious sentiments of the people.

He further said that adequate preparations should be ensured to facilitate the smooth and peaceful conduct of all Muharram observances, particularly Youm-e-Ashura, without any inconvenience to mourners and participants.
