Sultanpora: Residents of Rangwar Patti Sultanpora in Kundi Nowgam  area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla distinct  alleged that Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) department isn’t executing the works on Kholana to Rangwar Sultanpora road as per norms and department and contractor are compromising on the quantity and quality of material being used in construction of road and protection bunds.

A local, Fayaz Ahmad said that the contractor is putting boulders in capping concrete over bund which is totally illegal. Besides, construction is not as per estimate as width and height of the bund is less then what is shown in the sanctioned estimate.

The residents told Kashmir Images that they didn’t spot any officer visiting the area. They allege that not to talk of road, department is doing irregularities in construction of retaining walls which is mandatory for the life of a road.

Locals appealed to the concerned authority for immediate action in this regard and to constitute an inquiry on the matter before the withdrawal of the bills.

They accused concerned officials being hand in glow in with contractor.

However, Executive Engineer PMGSY Shah Jahan Mohammad Shah claimed that there is scrutiny of work in the department and action will be taken if some wrong is found. He claimed that ‘works were going on as per norms.’
