The inspection was aimed at strengthening railway safety and ensuring safe train operations.

Jammu Divisional Railway Manager Vivek Kumar and other senior railway officials accompanied Garg during the inspection.

Garg is also conducting periodic inspections of Jammu division and the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) project, which will continue till October 16, the officials said.

In another development, the Jammu division of Northern Railway on Wednesday operated the Jammu Tawi-Ajmer Pooja Superfast Express (12414) with an additional rake at its scheduled departure time to minimise inconvenience to passengers caused by delays, officials said.

The train departed from Jammu Tawi railway station on time after an additional rake was arranged using available spare coaches, they said.

The move was aimed at reducing waiting time for passengers travelling from Jammu to Ajmer and ensuring that their onward journeys and connecting train services were not affected by delays, officials said.

The division took the decision in the interest of passengers to facilitate timely travel, they added.
