Jammu: Director Industries and Commerce Jammu, Arun Manhas, on Friday flagged off a women-led electric vehicle (EV) rally to Srinagar from the TRC Complex, aimed at promoting sustainable tourism and clean mobility in Jammu and Kashmir.
The rally, organised by FICCI FLO Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh (JKL), features 22 women participants travelling in 10 electric cars.
Joint Director Tourism Jammu Aijaz Qaiser Malik, members of FICCI FLO JKL and other stakeholders were present at the flag-off ceremony.
According to the organisers, the rally seeks to highlight the potential of electric mobility in an ecologically sensitive region where tourism plays a major role in the economy.
The participants will travel through selected tourist destinations across Jammu before reaching Srinagar on September 26. The rally will conclude alongside the Nizami Brothers’ Sufi concert at SKICC, organised by FICCI FLO JKL under the theme “Where Music Meets Purpose.” The event will support educational initiatives for children of J&K Police martyrs.
Speaking on the occasion, Arun Manhas said such initiatives help create awareness about clean mobility and demonstrate how sustainable practices can contribute to tourism and economic growth in Jammu and Kashmir.
FICCI FLO JKL Chairperson Varsha Bansal said the rally aims to showcase that tourism growth and environmental sustainability can go hand in hand while highlighting Jammu’s tourism potential.
Joint Director Tourism Aijaz Qaiser Malik highlighted the region’s diverse tourism attractions and stressed the importance of promoting destinations across Jammu.
Among those present were Dr Kunwarani Ritu Singh and Varuna Anand, National Initiative Heads; Rupika Sahai, Senior Vice Chairperson, FICCI FLO JKL; Sona Mehta, Vice Chairperson; and Tanisha Pallan, Joint Treasurer.
