GANDERBAL: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday inaugurated a volleyball tournament in Kangan sub-division under its Civic Action Programme (CAP), aimed at promoting sports and youth engagement.
The tournament was inaugurated at the Synthetic Turf ground in Kijpara by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Kangan Rajeev Raina in the presence of other police officers.
According to police, 16 teams from different parts of Kangan sub-division are participating in the competition, which seeks to provide local youth an opportunity to showcase their sporting talent while encouraging teamwork, discipline and healthy competition.
In the opening match, Sunshine Kangan defeated Popup Chattergul.
Police said the tournament is part of its ongoing Civic Action Programme initiatives intended to encourage community participation, engage youth in constructive activities and strengthen police-public relations in the area.
