RAMBAN: The final of the Banihal Cricket League 2026 will be played on September 27, organisers said, as the tournament entered its concluding phase with participation from 32 teams representing several districts of Jammu and Kashmir.
Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan on Thursday interacted with and felicitated players and teams participating in the tournament at the Cricket Ground in Banihal.
Organised by the Indian Army under the theme “Play to Honour, Play to Inspire”, the tournament began on September 6 and has brought together teams from Banihal, Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar, Reasi, Kulgam, Anantnag and Udhampur.
According to organisers, the winning team will receive a cash prize of ₹1.5 lakh along with a trophy, while the runners-up will be awarded ₹75,000 and a trophy.
Speaking on the occasion, the deputy commissioner appreciated the Army for organising the event and promoting sports among youth. He congratulated the participating players and encouraged them to continue pursuing excellence in sports.
Officials said the tournament aims to promote grassroots sporting talent, provide competitive opportunities to young players and strengthen interaction between the Army and local communities.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate Banihal Mohammad Naseeb Bajraan, Tehsildar Banihal Amjad Hussain and Army officers were also present during the event.
