SRINAGAR: Police on Monday informed that it has arrested five drug peddlers across various districts and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Sharing details, a police spokesman said that Muzaffar Ahmad Sheikh of Nazuk Mohalla, Ganjiwara, was arrested at Ashajipora in Anantnag and one cannabis stick weighing 3 grams and 357 grams of marijuana were recovered from his possession.
One Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat of Lalpora, Kupwara was also arrested after cannabis-like substance was recovered from his possession.
At Chidhama in Kulgam, police arrested Sahil Ahmad Wani of Devalgam, Kokernag, Anantnag. After 21 grams of cannabis-like substance was recovered from his scooty (JK03Q-4003).
In Shopian, Mohammad Yousuf Chopan of Keller Bongam was arrested after 154 grams of cannabis powder-like substance was recovered from his cab (JK22-3033).
At Audoora Rampathri in Shopian, police arrested Ghulam Mohammad Mochi after 2.55 kilograms of crushed cannabis-like substance was recovered from his possession.
Cases have been registered in concerned police stations for further investigation, police said.
