Officials briefed the visiting journalists about various initiatives and programmes being undertaken by the institute and its Centres of Excellence in areas such as agriculture, healthcare, education, artificial intelligence, quantum technology and aerospace engineering. The delegation was also informed about efforts to attract talent from across the country and foster innovation-driven research.

During the visit, the delegation toured several facilities, including the Lab-Grown Diamond Facility, Ship Simulator, Brain Centre and the National Centre for Additive and Hybrid Technologies (NCAHT).

The journalists also visited the institute’s Incubation Cell and Research Park, where they were briefed on IIT-Madras’ startup ecosystem. Officials highlighted the success of startups incubated at the institute, including Ather Energy, Agnikul Cosmos and The ePlane Company.

Earlier, the delegation attended a presentation on various off-campus academic programmes offered by IIT-Madras for students and working professionals, aimed at expanding access to higher education and specialised training.

The delegation is scheduled to meet the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry on Wednesday as part of the third day of its exposure tour.
