SRINAGAR: The sixth edition of the International Film Festival of Kashmir (IFFK) commenced at Tagore Hall in Srinagar on Tuesday, bringing together filmmakers, artists, students, researchers and cinema enthusiasts for a two-day event showcasing international and regional cinema.
A total of 28 films from 24 countries are being screened during the festival, including several Kashmiri productions. The selected films cover a range of themes and cinematic traditions, while a number of documentaries focus on social issues and challenges faced by ordinary people.
The opening day featured films from countries including China, France, Iran, Switzerland, the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom, Morocco, Nepal and Iraq.
Among the films screened was the Kashmiri feature film Baand, directed by Ali Emran.
Organisers said the festival aims to provide audiences in Kashmir access to international, independent and regional cinema while offering a platform for filmmakers and artists to present their work and engage with audiences.
The festival concludes on September 3.
